Who can operate Direct Debit?

All organisations that are allowed to take Direct Debits from their customers are sponsored into the scheme by their banks. These organisations are then checked for integrity, robust financial standing, and managing competence before being accepted to present Direct Debit to their customers.

The Direct Debit Guarantee

Naturally Direct Debit is safer than paying by cheque and cash and it is the only payment method that protects our customers with a guarantee. The Direct Debit Guarantee gives our customers the complete reassurance of knowing they are protected by a number of safeguards. These include an immediate money back guarantee from their bank or building society if monies are debited from their accounts in error.

All the banks and building societies which take part in the Direct Debit Scheme are signed up to this comprehensive guarantee. So you can rest assured that in the unlikely event that something goes wrong, you are completely covered.

Security and reliability


The Direct Debit processing system makes a number of security and validation checks to confirm that the data is correct.

Refunding Errors

In the event of an error the customer’s bank will refund the customer. If the error is caused by us, the bank will reclaim the amount from us.
