Pensions Trust employee, Russell Gardham is due to take part in a 131-mile super challenge in aid of Project 65 – The Veterans, starting on 27 May 2010.
Before his “civilian” job, Russell served in the Armed Forces in Bosnia, Germany and the UK. He will be taking part and promoting the charity’s 131-mile Forces March challenge, which has been created to unite civilians with personnel from the military and emergency services to raise vital funds for the care and support of wounded UK Armed Forces heroes.
Russell aims to cover 26.2 miles a day on five consecutive days starting in IIfracombe, North Devon on 27 May 2010 and due to finish in Bulford, Wiltshire on 31 May 2010.
Russell said: “I am running 131-miles in five days to help raise money for our soldiers who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq and their families. With my former service and love of running, I feel this is an ideal way of giving something back to both the soldiers injured in active service and to the memories of our lost comrades.”
