The Pensions Trust’s Chief Investment Officer, David Adkins, has just completed the four day New Ways Tour de Normandie bike ride in aid of New Ways charity.
The challenge, which saw him complete 200 miles in the saddle over four days was part of an initiative to raise over £50,000 for New Ways, a charity which supports a range of health and development projects in North Kenya, with the aim of helping people take responsibility and control of their own lives.
David, along with 13 other bike enthusiasts and support crew, covered 200 miles through four consecutive days, starting in Cherbourg, France on the 7 October 2010 and finishing in Ouistreham on 10 October 2010. Along the way the group passed through fantastic coastal scenery and countryside, with overnight stays in St-Vaast-la-Hougue, St-Lo and Bayeux.
David said: “I took part in this cycle challenge to help raise money for New Ways, a charity which provides the people of North Kenya with access to water, health facilities and education, as well as the tools to grow food for themselves and their livestock. I am a keen cyclist, and this initiative provided me with an opportunity to raise vital funds for such an important charity.
