The Independent Schools’ Pension Scheme (ISPS) has seen off strong competition to win the Small Scheme of the Year award at this year’s Professional Pensions Pension Scheme of the Year Awards. These awards for occupational schemes seek to recognise excellence within UK pension schemes.
The award was presented to ISPS in recognition of its commitment to providing market leading defined benefit pensions for teaching support staff. As well as offering a Teachers’ Scheme equivalent package, the Scheme, administered by The Pensions Trust, recently introduced new benefit options giving employers a choice of three benefit options to suit all budgets. The new options have attracted an encouraging number of enquiries and new member schools.
Commenting on the win, Roy Blackwell, Chairman of the ISPS Committee said, ‘Over the last couple of years we have put significant effort into expanding the Scheme. This award is in recognition of the hard work put in by the Committee and The Pensions Trust to extend the options available to the large number of independent schools which currently do not feel able to provide as generously for their support staff in pensions terms as they do for their teaching staff.’
The ceremony, attended by professionals in the pensions and investment industry, was held on Thursday 11 September 2008 at The Park Lane Hilton in London. The awards were judged by a select panel of pensions specialists and were presented by the broadcaster and former Conservative cabinet minister Michael Portillo.
