Issued: 25 March 2004
Richard Stroud, Chief Executive of The Pensions Trust, has been made a Fellow of The Pensions Advisory Service (FPAS). The award was given in recognition of his contribution towards the success of OPAS over the past 21 years.
OPAS marked its 21st anniversary with a party and awards ceremony held in London on 11 March. Many people from across the pensions industry gathered to celebrate, including Margaret Grainger, the original founder of OPAS. This made it all the more poignant an occasion for Richard Stroud as he was closely involved in setting up OPAS and has been a voluntary advisor ever since.
Richard described the award, which was presented by OPAS Chairman Anna Edgeworth, as "a great honour" going on to say that "being a volunteer is very rewarding as OPAS enables the little people to deal with the big people on equal terms. All I have done is what many would do and I could not have done it without the support of The Pensions Trust."
The Pensions Trust is the UK's leading provider of occupational pension schemes for charities, voluntary bodies and not for profit organisations. Richard has been Chief Executive since 1978, prior to this he worked for Legal & General, Sedgwick Collins and The British Printing Corporation. A keen opera fan, Richard is married with four sons.
