Small Scheme of the year awards for SFHA

Issued: 10 November 2004

The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) Pension Scheme scooped the award for Small Scheme of the Year (up to £250m) at this year’s Professional Pensions Scheme Awards, and also at the Pensions Management Awards.

The SFHA scheme is an industry-wide final salary pension scheme for housing association employees in Scotland. It has 170 employers and 6,000 members. The scheme is administered by The Pensions Trust under the direction of the SFHA Pensions Committee.

The success of the SFHA Pension Scheme can be attributed to the high level of customer service provided by The Pensions Trust which includes:

  • Administration and benefit calculation
  • Member communication and consultation
  • Pensioner payroll
  • Employer communication and consultation
  • Investment
  • Trustee services
  • Accounting, actuarial and legal services

The Pensions Trust also assists the scheme by hosting quarterly management meetings to discuss administration and customer service, plans for marketing and growth, scheme specific investment and legal issues. Monthly meetings are also held between The Pensions Trust relationship manager and the Chair of the SFHA Pensions Committee.

Commenting on the award, Richard Stroud, Chief Executive of The Pensions Trust, said: "We are obviously very pleased to receive these awards in recognition of the work we do with the SFHA. Here at The Pensions Trust we take our responsibilities as scheme administrators extremely seriously and strive to achieve successful and long-standing partnerships with our clients. These awards reflect this and the hard work of everyone involved."
