1. What was your best subject at school? Worst?

Best subject was Music. Worst subject was French.

2. Do you have a nickname?

Yes 'Hairs' as I was always combing my hair.

3. If you had to be classified as a member of a "generation" which would it be?

Middle aged & feeling tired.

4. What was the first record that you bought?

Beethoven Overtures – Fidelio.

5. What was the last concert you went to?

Mozart's – "The Magic Flute".

6. What did you want to be when you were at school?

A computer programmer.

7. What was your first job?

A Pensions Clerk for Legal & General.

8. How did you start in the pensions profession?

I drifted into the job.

9. What time do you wake up for work?

At 6.00am.

10. How do you get to work every day?

By train.

11. What three adjectives would your colleagues use to describe you?

Enthusiastic, capable and irritating.

12. What aspect of pensions legislation or provision would you change if you could?

LPI requirement.

13. Who is the most irritating person in the industry or public eye?

Peter Hain.

14. Who is the most influential person in the pensions industry?

Gordon Brown.

15. Should saving into a pension be compulsory?

Yes.

16. Pension or ISA?

Both.

17. What is your worst habit?

Clearing my throat.

18. When was the last time you lost your temper?

This morning (21.02.04) when the day started badly.

19. What was the last "bargain" you got?

A DVD player in Safeways.

20. What is your favourite meal?

Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding.

21. What is your favourite drink?

English real beer.

22. What is the biggest bet you ever placed and did you win?

I know it's boring but I don’t bet.

23. Who would be your ideal dinner guest?

Alfred Brendel.

24. What was the last country you visited?

France.

25. How do you plan to spend your retirement years?

Immersing myself in music.
