SHPS anounces new Chairman

Issued: 13 December 2007

The Social Housing Pension Scheme (SHPS) announced today the appointment of Colin Small as Chairman. Colin will take over chairmanship of the SHPS Committee from Alister Green, who stands down after nine years at the helm in December 2007. Colin has also been re-elected as an Employer Nominated Representative.

Nick Horne of Arcadia Housing will continue as Vice Chair of the Committee and Dennis Jones has been elected as a Member Nominated Representative.

Dennis and Colin will serve for six years from 1 December 2007. At the end of their term they may either step down or stand for re-election.  The Committee consists of 10 members and meets approximately four times a year. Members retire by rotation every two years.

Colin Small commented "Alister Green's contribution has been outstanding. The pensions environment continues to become more complex and Alister has led SHPS through this period of significant change and challenge. Alister is remaining on the SHPS Committee and his vast experience will continue to be a major benefit to our work."

SHPS also announced that Heather Rutherford’s co-option onto the SHPS Committee has been renewed for a further two years. Formerly employed by Orbit Housing Group, Heather's expertise in Human Resources is a valuable asset to the SHPS Committee.
