I Am Going to Be Absent From Work
If your absence is due to illness or injury and your pay
ceases, or if you are taking unpaid family leave or
unpaid maternity leave, your contributions will stop. You have the option to pay the contributions missed on your return to work.

If you choose to pay the contributions missed, your employer will also pay contributions, and your
pensionable service will be reinstated. |

If contributions are paid at a different level to your
normal rate, for example, on half-pay, pensionable
service will be adjusted accordingly. |

If the contributions missed are not paid, pensionable service will be suspended for that period. |

If your employer approves any other leave of absence
you may be able to continue your membership of the
Scheme for a period of up to 30 months. This is subject to the agreement of the Committee. After 30 months you will be treated as a leaver. For information on leaving click here.
