The Structure of the SFHA Pensions Committee
The composition of the SFHA Pensions Committee is:
- 5 members nominated and elected by active members,deferred members and pensioners;
- 5 members nominated and elected by employers;and
- 3 members filling co-options or casual vacancies.
Committee members retire by rotation every two years, at which time they may stand for re-election. Committee members are unpaid.

The Role of the SFHA Pensions Committee
The Pensions Committee currently meets at least four times a year, with additional meetings if required. The majority of meetings are held in Edinburgh.
The responsibilities of the Pensions Committee are:
- To monitor the administration of the Scheme.
- To ensure the benefits provided by the Scheme comply with legislation and when appropriate make any necessary changes.
- To ensure the Scheme is financially secure.
- To monitor the investment performance of The Pensions Trust.
- To receive and agree the actuarial valuations and accounts for the Scheme.
Interested in becoming a Pensions Committe member?
Elections are held every two years. The next elections are due to be held in 2010. The successful candidates will take up their post on 1 October 2010.
